DOT Certification — What It Means for You

RAD Truck Straps carry DOT certification under FMCSA cargo securement standards (49 CFR Part 393). This is the federal standard governing cargo tie-down equipment for commercial and regulated hauling.

For commercial and contractor use: DOT-certified straps satisfy FMCSA procurement requirements. Non-certified equipment used in commercial applications can expose operators to citation and liability. RAD satisfies the standard. Most competitors do not claim it.

For personal and recreational use: DOT certification means your straps have been tested and rated against a federal benchmark — not just a manufacturer's claim. It's the difference between "rated" and "rated by the government."

No other mounted ratchet strap brand in this category is currently claiming DOT certification. RAD is the standard.

Installation Overview

Ford F-150 / F-250 (BoxLink trucks) — approximately 15 minutes:

  1. Remove the existing factory BoxLink anchor caps from the bed rails.
  2. Insert the RAD CNC-machined mounting plate into the BoxLink slot.
  3. Fasten with the included 10mm hex head bolts and washers. No drilling required.
  4. Attach the RAD Strap housing to the mounted plate. Done.

All other trucks (Universal Plate) — approximately 20–30 minutes:

  1. Choose your installation position along the truck bed rail or floor.
  2. Mark and drill pilot holes at your chosen position.
  3. Mount the Universal Plate with the included hardware.
  4. Attach the RAD Strap housing. Done.
Note on Ford BoxLink trucks: The RAD mounting plate replaces the factory BoxLink anchor caps. Some trucks have pre-threaded holes; others may require tapping with an M6×1.0 tap if threads are not present. Not sure? Email us and we'll walk you through it before you order: support@radtruckstraps.com

US Patent No. 12594871 is granted. DOT certification is current. The product has been the same since the beginning: built right, built once, built to last the life of the truck.

What Buyers Haul with RAD Straps

RAD Truck Straps are used daily across the following applications — each of which benefits from a permanently mounted, DOT-certified cargo securement system:

  • Motorcycles and dirt bikes — Street bikes, cruisers, and off-road bikes. Mounted straps eliminate the pre-ride scramble for loose tie-downs.
  • ATVs and UTVs — Full-size side-by-sides and four-wheelers. The 400 lb workload limit per strap handles it.
  • Contractor and job site equipment — Toolboxes, generators, lumber, compressors. For contractors hauling daily, DOT compliance is a professional requirement.
  • Hunting and ranch gear — ATVs, livestock equipment, camping gear across rough terrain. Reliable hold every season.
  • Camping and overlanding — Roof boxes, coolers, recovery gear. RAD stays mounted when you need it and retracts clean when you don't.
  • Kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards — Watercraft on long-bed trucks. Clean, permanent anchor points beat cam straps every time.
