RAD Truck Straps vs. Juggernaut Designs | Full Comparison

Honest comparison

RAD vs. Juggernaut Designs

Two mounted ratchet strap systems. We are not going to tell you which one to buy. We are going to give you the actual facts so you can decide. If you are comparing these two, here is everything that matters.

The Short Version

What actually separates them

Both RAD and Juggernaut make permanently mounted auto-retracting ratchet straps for pickup trucks. Both are US-made. Both work. The meaningful differences are: RAD is the original (Jeramie invented this category and holds the US patent on the mounting system); Juggernaut holds a separate patent on their dual-pivot mechanism (a mechanical difference, not the same patent); Juggernaut covers more truck models at launch; and RAD is Ford-first with the deepest BoxLink integration available.

Side by Side

The actual comparison

Category origin RAD: Jeramie invented permanently mounted ratchet straps. Juggernaut came after.
Patent status RAD: US patent granted on the mounting system. Juggernaut: US patent on their dual-pivot mechanism. These are different patents on different things.
Assembly Both hand-assembled in the USA.
Ford F-150 fit Both fit. RAD uses direct BoxLink replacement. Juggernaut uses their pivot system. Both install without drilling on BoxLink-equipped F-150s.
Truck compatibility breadth Juggernaut covers 50+ fitments including rail systems (L-Track, E-Track, Cybertruck). RAD covers Ford direct + Universal Plate for all other trucks.
Price RAD: $175 for 2-strap kit. Juggernaut: $99 single, $169.99 pair, $299.99 four-pack. Similar price per strap at the pair level.

Community RAD has deeper brand community (Instagram, TikTok, Ford truck forums). Juggernaut has strong review velocity and editorial coverage.
Business model Both DTC. Both family/founder-led.
When to Choose Each

Which one is right for your truck

Choose RAD when…

You have a Ford F-150 or Super Duty

RAD was built for the F-150 BoxLink system first. The mounting plate is machined to the BoxLink spec. If your truck is Ford, RAD has the most purpose-built fit in the category.

Choose RAD when…

The founding story matters to you

Jeramie invented this. He built the first one for his own truck. RAD is not a company that entered a market — it is the person who created the market. The US patent is granted on the system Jeramie designed.

Consider Juggernaut when…

You need 50+ specific fitments

Juggernaut's interchangeable backplate system covers more truck models out of the box, including Cybertruck, L-Track, and E-Track rail systems. If your truck is unusual or you want one system across multiple vehicles, Juggernaut's breadth is wider.

Consider Juggernaut when…

You want Amazon reviews before buying

Juggernaut has thousands of Amazon reviews and the Best Seller badge. If third-party review volume is part of how you evaluate a purchase, that data exists for Juggernaut in a way it does not yet for RAD on Amazon.

What People Actually Ask

Comparison questions answered

Is RAD or Juggernaut the original mounted ratchet strap?

RAD is the original. Jeramie invented the permanently mounted auto-retracting ratchet strap system and holds the US patent on it. Juggernaut Designs entered the market after RAD and holds a separate patent on their dual-pivot mechanism, which is a different mechanical feature. The category existed because of RAD first.

Does RAD copy Juggernaut or does Juggernaut copy RAD?

RAD came first. Jeramie built the original product and holds the US patent on the mounting system. Juggernaut came after. Their dual-pivot patent is on a specific mechanism they developed, which is distinct from the RAD mounting system. Both companies hold legitimate patents on different aspects of their respective products.

Which has better specs — RAD or Juggernaut?

RAD: 1,200 lb break strength, 400 lb WLL per strap, 1-inch x 9-foot auto-retracting. Juggernaut does not publish equivalent rated specs in the same format on their public product pages. Comparing rated specs directly is not straightforward because Juggernaut's dual-pivot mechanism is mechanically different from RAD's system. Both are designed for the same use case.

Are both made in the USA?

Yes. Both RAD and Juggernaut are US-made and hand-assembled.

Which fits more trucks?

Juggernaut covers a wider range of specific fitments out of the box, including L-Track, E-Track, and Cybertruck. RAD covers Ford direct (BoxLink) with no drilling, plus a Universal Plate for all other trucks. If your truck is on Juggernaut's specific fitment list, their system gives you a purpose-built backplate. If your truck uses the Universal Plate approach anyway, RAD and Juggernaut are functionally equivalent for non-Ford trucks.

Which is cheaper?

Similar at the two-strap level. RAD is $175 for a complete two-strap kit. Juggernaut is $169.99 for a pair. At the single-strap level, Juggernaut's $99 single is cheaper than buying a full RAD kit for one strap.
