Fitment & Compatibility

Which trucks fit

What trucks do RAD Truck Straps fit?

RAD Truck Straps fit any pickup truck. Ford F-150, F-250, and Super Duty trucks from 2015/2017 and newer use the direct BoxLink mounting system — no drilling required. All other trucks (Chevrolet Silverado, RAM 1500/2500/3500, GMC Sierra, Toyota Tacoma, Toyota Tundra, Nissan Frontier, Nissan Titan, Jeep Gladiator, and more) use the Universal Plate, which mounts to any flat bed surface. What is BoxLink and does my F-150 have it?

BoxLink is Ford's factory tie-down anchor system built into the bed rails of F-150 trucks. It's a pair of oval metal anchors that thread in and out of the bed rail. BoxLink has been standard on XLT and above since 2015 and was available as an option on XL. Check your bed rails: if you see oval metal anchors that can be unthreaded, you have BoxLink and the RAD kit installs without drilling.

Does RAD fit the F-150 Lightning?

Yes. The Ford F-150 Lightning uses the same BoxLink anchor system as the standard F-150. RAD installs identically — no drilling, approximately 15 minutes.

Does RAD fit the F-150 Raptor?

Yes. The Raptor (Gen 2, 2017+ and Gen 3, 2021+) uses the same BoxLink system. Direct install, no modifications.

I have a RAM TRX / Silverado ZR2 / Tacoma TRD. Does it fit?

Yes. Any of these trucks uses the Universal Plate system. The plate mounts to the flat bed floor with included hardware. Two small holes per plate. Same straps as the Ford kit. Same specs.

Does RAD work on a flatbed or utility bed?

Yes, as long as there's a flat surface for the Universal Plate to mount to. If your flatbed has significant cross-member spacing or unusual geometry, contact us before ordering and we can confirm.

Installation

How it goes in

How long does installation take?

Ford BoxLink install: approximately 15 minutes for both straps. The factory BoxLink anchors unthread by hand or with a 10mm socket. The RAD plate drops in. The strap housing attaches. Universal Plate install: approximately 30 minutes including measuring, marking, and drilling two pilot holes per plate.

Does the Ford BoxLink install require drilling?

No. The RAD mounting plate replaces the factory BoxLink anchors using the existing holes in the bed rail. Zero new holes required.

What tools do I need?

For the Ford BoxLink install: a 10mm socket or wrench. Some installs can be done fully by hand. For the Universal Plate: a drill with appropriate bit for your bed surface, a 10mm socket, and a measuring tape. All hardware is included.

Can I put the factory BoxLink anchors back in after installing RAD?

Yes. The factory anchors thread back in exactly as they came out. Same holes, same threads. Takes about two minutes per corner. You can switch between RAD and factory anchors as many times as you want.

Will RAD work with my spray-in or drop-in bed liner?

For spray-in liners: the BoxLink holes punch through the liner and stay accessible. RAD installs normally. For drop-in liners: lift the liner at the corners to access the BoxLink holes. The RAD plate sits under the liner lip and holds the liner in place. For Universal Plate installs with any liner: you'll mount the plate to the bed floor through or under the liner.

Will installing RAD void my truck warranty?

No. For Ford BoxLink trucks: RAD uses the existing factory anchor holes with no modifications. For Universal Plate trucks: RAD uses hardware to mount to the bed floor. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act prohibits manufacturers from voiding warranties solely because an aftermarket part was installed, provided the part doesn't cause damage. RAD does not cause damage.

Product & Specs

What you're buying

What's included in the RAD Deal kit?

Two auto-retracting mounted ratchet straps, two CNC-machined solid steel mounting plates (BoxLink or Universal depending on kit), and all installation hardware including 10mm hex head fasteners. Everything you need is in the box.

What are the actual strap specs?

1-inch wide strap. 9 feet long. Auto-retracting housing — press the button and the strap retracts. Break strength: 1,200 lb per strap. Working load limit: 400 lb per strap. These are rated figures from testing, not marketing copy.

Who makes RAD Truck Straps?

Jeramie invented the product for his own Ford F-150. He and his wife Dani run the business. Their team hand-assembles and inspects every kit at one address before it ships. Not a fulfillment warehouse. Not a reseller. The people who designed it are the people who built yours.

Are RAD Truck Straps made in the USA?

Yes. Hand-assembled in the USA. The CNC-machined steel mounting plates are precision manufactured and inspected before assembly. Not drop-shipped from a supplier.

Is the mounting system patented?

Yes. The permanently mounted retractable ratchet strap system holds a granted US patent. Jeramie is the inventor. RAD is the original. Other products you've seen in this category came after.

How many kits do I need?

One kit (two straps, two plates) covers one pair of anchor points — typically the rear. A standard pickup has four corner tie-down points. For full four-point coverage, two kits. Most hauling setups work fine with the rear pair. If you're regularly securing motorcycles, ATVs, or wide loads requiring all four corners, get two kits.

What colors are available?

Gold, Black Out, and Pink. All colorways have identical specs. Color is your call.

Ordering & Shipping

Getting your kit

How much does shipping cost?

Free shipping on orders using code RADSHIP at checkout. Standard rates apply without the code.

Is there a military or first responder discount?

Yes. Active and veteran military personnel, law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other first responders qualify for a discount. See the Military & First Responder page for details and how to verify.

Why does the kit cost $175?

Because $25 straps live in a tangled pile under your back seat. The $175 RAD kit mounts permanently to your truck, auto-retracts out of the way, and is in the same spot every single time you need it. CNC-machined steel plates. Hand-assembled in the USA. Rated specs, not marketing numbers. That's the difference.
